A DRUM-ROLL awaits the spectacular Yamato Drummers of Japan as their new stunning performance, Rojyoh: The Beat On The Road, descends on Eden Court on Thu 21 Feb at 19.30 as part of their 20th anniversary world tour!
The dynamic company’s last visit to the UK in 2008 was a sell-out success and their new show will cement their status as the original and best Taiko Drumming troupe.
Showcasing the energy and skill for which they are renowned Rojyoh: The Beat on the Road is a thrilling performance of Japanese Taiko drumming.
The Yamato Company was founded in Japan’s Nara Prefecture in 1993, by Artistic Director Masa Ogawa.
Since then, the company have showcased their fresh and energetic take on Taiko drumming in more than 50 countries and in front of over five million people of all ages, who have been left breathless and exhilarated by the skilled and energetic drumming skills of the Yamato drummers.
Every year the Yamato Company tour the world for six to ten months throughout Asia, Europe, North and South America and Canada, creating and presenting original Yamato compositions and performances.
As a result of this relentless tour schedule, they have a developed a large and loyal following around the world, with audiences awaiting their arrival in growing numbers.
Yamato play Wadaiko drums that range from the size of a plate to over a metre in diameter, including the Odaiko drum, hewn from one huge tree over 400 years-old.
The sheer physical strength and movement of the drummers is as impressive as the music, in this visually spectacular and highly entertaining show.
Yamato is a very significant word for the Japanese. It is a reminder of peaceful times and an important artistic period of their history. Yamato is also the former name of Nara, where the company are based.

Hilarious comedy farce Boeing Boeing by French playwright Marc Camoletti bursts onto Eden Court’s stage on Fri 15 and Sat 16 Feb.
Winner of two Olivier Awards and a Tony Award for ‘Best Revival of a Play’, Boeing Boeing is a side-splittingly funny romp of a night out. And this particular translation by Dame Maggie Smith’s late husband Beverley Cross and stars Kim Tiddy from The Bill and Hollyoaks, The Royal’s Zoie Kennedy and Hollyoaks’ Ciara Janson.
Bernard’s love life is quite the busy one – but juggling his three air-stewardess fiancées from three different countries has always seemed a bit of a breeze! However, when their airline schedules change unexpectedly and their trips home begin to clash, all hell breaks loose and this Casanova finally learns he’s bitten off more than he can chew!
This cheeky fast-paced, perfectly-timed Parisian romp is a good time guaranteed.
