WITH this year’s Celtic Connections festival in full swing, people in Glasgow have a chance to win tickets to next year’s opening concert by spotting a purple taxi.
A black cab has been transformed to promote the University of the Highlands and Islands’ involvement with the cultural festival as an Education Partner.
Anyone who spots the taxi on city centre streets can enter the competition by taking a photo of themselves next to it and posting it on the University’s Facebook page.
The winners will be chosen through a public vote so organisers are urging entrants to submit humorous, interesting and creative photos. The prizes are tickets to the Celtic Connections 2014 opening concert or two tickets for this year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, which takes place near Inverness in August.
Preparing the taxi for its photo and month in the spotlight, driver and owner, Alan MacDougall from Bearsden, said: “I was out at 7am this morning washing the taxi for anyone that spotted it. It was so cold the water was freezing on the sides! It’s the first time I’ve been involved in a competition like this so I’m looking forward to the encounters it brings.”
