THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns has been granted a Park Mark® Safer Parking Award, having put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.
The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Associations of Chief Police Officers, aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking areas.
Michelle McCabe, Centre Manager at The Avenue, said: “We are delighted to have reached the standards required by the scheme, as it means we are now delivering safer parking for visitors to the shopping centre.
“The Avenue is fully committed to giving our customers the best possible shopping experience, in a fresh, safe and secure environment.
“Following considerable investment in extensive resurfacing and relighting of the car park, centre management has assumed direct managerial responsibility for the operation of the car park and is delighted to advise that it will remain free for the use of our shoppers.”
The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
