CHARDON Management, one of the UK’s leading independent hotel management companies, has appointed former InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) development director, Steve Terry, to its board to spearhead its business development programme from London.
An experienced and successful hotel development director, having played a key role in the recent significant expansion of some of the major UK hotel brands, including Ramada Encore, Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn, Terry’s remit at Chardon is to extend its expanding portfolio throughout Europe.
Commenting on his appointment, Terry said: “I’m delighted to join Chardon Management at such an exciting time in its development and look forward to assisting the growth of the firm over the coming years.
“Chardon already enjoys a hard-earned reputation for delivering the best in professional management for all types of hotels and health and fitness clubs and for providing hotel owners with a broad range of value-added services – from site and brand selection to managing brands and brand standards – and I’m greatly enthused about the tremendous opportunities for growth inherent within the hospitality sector across Europe at this time.”
Maurice Taylor, founder and chief executive at Chardon Management, said: “Steve’s appointment represents another significant link in the development of Chardon as we seek to accelerate our plans for growth across Europe.
“His remit will encompass the promotion of Chardon’s services to franchisees, hotel operators, developers, local councils, funders and agents as well as formal site evaluation and negotiation of all franchise agreements and management contracts.”
An economics graduate, Terry began his career as an account manager and financial manager in various industries before joining Holiday Inn Worldwide as revenue manager then embarking on a career in hotel development within IHG. In 2003 he joined BDL Hotels as development director and was a main board director and shareholder, then joined Wyndham Hotel Group six years later as senior development director for Western Europe before rejoining IHG in 2011 as development director, UK and Ireland, responsible for growing the presence of all IHG brands in the UK.
Chardon manages 35 hotels and a number of health and fitness clubs throughout the length and breadth of the UK and its own brand portfolio comprises: La Bonne Auberge; Limelight Bar & Grill; Triangle Health and Fitness; Tri Health & Beauty and Hoteldeals.co.uk
