THE United Free Church of Scotland is pleased to announce that the Moderator Designate of our 2013 General Assembly is Rev Graham Brown B.Sc; B.D.
The Assembly will meet in Perth from 29th – 31st May 2013. Mr Brown is minister of Sauchie and Fishcross United Free Church in Clackmannanshire. He was born in Kilmarnockin 1956.
Mr Brown was educated at Kilmarnock Academy where he came to faith through the work of Scripture Union. He became a student at Glasgow University where he graduated in 1977 with a BSc in Maths, Computing and Statistics. He then moved to Cumbernauld where he secured employment with Burroughs Machines.
Sensing a call to the ministry and having completed some evening classes at the former Bible Training Institute in Glasgow, Mr Brown applied to the former Home Area Committee of the United Free Church and was accepted as a lay pastor. He was appointed to Kilmaurs in Ayrshire in 1987. He later studied Divinity at Glasgow University and was ordained and inducted to Aberdeen: Northfield in 1998. He moved to the Sauchie and Fishcross congregation in 2003.
Mr Brown has served the Church as Clerk to the Presbytery of the North, as Moderator of the Presbytery of the East and is presently Clerk to the Presbytery of the East.
Nationally, he has served as convener of the Evangelism Committee and he is currently convener of the Administration and Finance Committee.
Mr Brown is married to Christine who is also very much involved in the life and witness of the church, and who will be totally supportive of him in his role as Moderator of the 2013 General Assembly.
