AROUND 1,100 visitors and exhibitors flocked to a business showcase event in Aberdeen yesterday (November 1).
With exhibitor numbers up 50 per cent and visitors up ten per cent on last year’s inaugural Granite Expo, the sell-out event offered networking and cross-selling opportunities as well as free business advice seminars including a session led by Gregor Lawson, co-founder of the multi-million pound Morphsuit phenomenon.
In addition, there was a business breakfast hosted by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, a Business Network Scotland (BNS) event and a prize draw.
The event was officially opened by Professor Rita Marcella, who said: “I was honoured to open this event as Dean of Aberdeen Business School.
“I am passionate about business. It is the unexpected and unanticipated opportunities that arise during networking that are often the most meaningful – that is what this event is about.”
Granite Expo 2012 was supported by Aberdeen City Council.
Project director for economic and business development, Gerry Brough, commented: “This year’s Granite Expo has been a great success.
“The event was extremely well attended by both exhibitors and visitors, which reflects the level of business, expertise and interest in Aberdeen and the North-east, reaffirming our position as a leading world city.
“Granite Expo is an important event in Aberdeen’s calendar and I am sure it will continue to grow to become even bigger and better in future years.”
Creator and event director, Brett Jackson, added: “We are delighted that Granite Expo was bigger and better than last year and provided valuable cross selling opportunities to visitors and exhibitors from many sectors.
“Building on that success, we now look forward to next year’s Granite Expo which will take place on October 31st, 2013.”
The competition for the best stand was won by Thistle Hotels, with Itsy and Your Event Scotland receiving commendations.
Granite Expo 2012 was also supported by Bupa, Deveron Homes and LFI Creative.
