LABELGRAPHICS, a leading wine and spirit labelling company in the UK, has relocated from its neighbouring former premises into a new energy efficient 50,000 sq ft facility on Clydebank Business Park.
The move marks the latest stage in a significant expansion programme that has seen the company invest £7.5 million in new plant and equipment over the last five years.
With annual revenues of £14 million, Labelgraphics is acknowledged as a leader in the field of high quality pressure sensitive labels for the drinks industry with a client base including such famous brands as Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s and Jacob’s Creek.
Formed 30 years ago at Clydebank’s old Singer site, Labelgraphics has been run in recent years by the sons of founder, Alex Mulvenny – Alex, managing director, and Peter, operations manager.
Earlier this year, the former family business became part of the Cincinnati, Ohio based Multi-Color Corporation (MCC).
Its Collotype Labels Wine & Spirit division is the world’s largest in this label market segment.
Alex Mulvenny, Labelgraphics managing director, said: “Whilst our new facility raises our production capacity significantly by taking us from 30,000sq ft to 50,000 sq ft, the fact that we purchased sufficient land to expand by another 40,000 sq ft, effectively future proofs our position within Clydebank and signals our confidence in the potential for further significant growth.
“The relocation has already enabled us to add a further 20 staff to our payroll, which now numbers 100 employees, and we have invested significantly in new capital equipment which allows us to offer our customers innovative, high quality labelling solutions unavailable elsewhere in the UK.”
Amongst Labelgraphics’ new capital equipment, all of which are being introduced to the wine and spirits labelling market in the UK for the first time, are an HP6600 & Digicon digital press finishing machine, an EMS510 10 colour and a Gallus RCS430 12 Colour press.
As part of its commitment to a sustainability agenda and concerted drive towards energy efficiency, Labelgraphics’ new facility features photo voltaic roof panels which enable it to generate a portion of its own power and to sell power back to the national grid.
“This significant investment and expansion consolidates Labelgraphics’ position as the largestcompany in the UK operating in the wines and spirits labelling sector,” said Mulvenny.
“Our strategy is to progress to bigger and better things as part of the Multi-Color Group, the biggest wines and spirits labelling company in the world.”
