LEADING Huntly-based property development company, Deveron Homes, has marked the launch of its involvement in a new national scheme which will not only provide opportunities for homebuyers but help create new jobs within the construction industry.
MI New Home is a new scheme which has support from the Scottish Government and aims to kick-start the housing market by putting 95 per cent loan to value mortgages back into the lending mainstream.
It has been developed by Homes for Scotland in conjunction with a number of approved property developers and insurance specialists Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
In its first three years, the project aims to assist an estimated 6,000 buyers of new-build homes nationwide, opening doors to people who can afford mortgages but have previously been excluded due to the high deposits required to secure a property.
NHBC award-winning Deveron Homes – which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year – is among those leading the way with the initiative at its developments throughout Scotland, and hopes are high that easier access to financial assistance will result in a forecast surge in demand, thus safeguarding and creating local jobs.
Attending the recent Deveron Homes launch at the company’s Cairn View development of eco-homes in Kemnay was local MSP, Dennis Robertson.
He said: “I was delighted to visit the Cairn View development and to hear about the work being done by Deveron Homes in conjunction with the MI New Home scheme.
“I am very pleased that local companies are working hard to create jobs and boost the construction industry, while at the same time ensuring that more people will have the ability to buy their own home.”
Managing director, Gordon Ramsay, added: “Homes for Scotland and JLT are to be commended for bringing the MI New Home initiative to fruition.
“We now look forward to accelerating sales with the new 95 per cent mortgage product providing finance for buyers who until now, were excluded from the property market.
“The English version of the scheme, NewBuy, launched four months ago and we are encouraged to hear that one national developer has declared that almost one third of their total in that time have been as a result of NewBuy.
“We are confident of a similar result in Scotland and look forward to working with our lenders to ensure MI New Home is a resounding success.”
Deveron Homes director, Alan Murray, added: “The launch of MI New Home is a welcome boost for the beleaguered construction industry. Deveron Homes has invested a great deal in the MI New Home initiative and we are hopeful that increasing demand for new build properties will, in turn, bring much-needed, new jobs to the construction sector.”
