A NORTH-east accountancy firm has expanded its team to cope with increased business from the local area and the fishing industry.
SBP Chartered Accountants has appointed Michael Murray, a qualified ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), to head up the Sage department and assist in the continued growth of its Fraserburgh office.
The firm, which has more than 30 employees, boasts offices in Peterhead, Aberdeen and Banff and has a specialist team with vast knowledge of accountancy for the fishing industry.
Mr Murray, 40, previously worked for SBP and has returned following two years with another major accountancy firm with offices in Fraserburgh. He previously worked as a fish auctioneer in Fraserburgh and retrained as an accountant nine years ago.
He said: “An opportunity arose to progress my career with SBP and it’s been great to settle back into the team, it feels like I’ve never been away. I’m a local guy, born and bred in Fraserburgh and I’m looking forward to the challenge of helping SBP further increase their share of the market in the North-east.”

The company, which is more than 40 years old, provides assistance in accountancy, taxation and audit services, along with a range of expert financial services.
Mr Murray holds a number of community roles including, treasurer for Fraserburgh Business Association, chairman of Kessock Park, treasurer for the Sports Trust of Fraserburgh and he also helps safeguard the town’s greenbelt.
