NINETY minutes from Nice International Airport and located in the middle of the Mercantour National Park, Isola 2000 is the highest ski resort in the Southern Alps and is accessible by bus from Nice from €4 each way when booking in advance.
Isola 2000 is more than the standard prefabricated concrete resort. It has developed the beautiful chalets, transforming it into the typical French skiing village and fulfilling its aim to become an international resort.
The claim to fame of this resort is in part its 360° view from the peak of Sistron with the Mediterranean sea on one side and the snow-covered mountain tops on the other.
The resort isn’t just for snow bunnies – it’s got 42 slopes, 11 of which are red and 3 of which are black.
The snow park titled ‘Tony’s Snowland’ after bronze medallist, Tony Ramoin, specialises in freestyle skiing with three zones for different ski styles.
Also, children under five get in for free!
