SCOTLAND’S Makar (national poet), Liz Lochhead, along with Jackie Kay, Vicki Feaver, John Glenday, Aonghas MacNeacail and Stewart Conn will be performing at the prestigious Poetry in the Persian Tent reading series at The Festival of Spirituality and Peace this week.
The series of events from 22 – 26 August will raise money for farming development in Africa. The headliners will be joined by other familiar faces from the Scottish poetry scene and by top quality musical interludes.
The M.C. will be impresario. Stephanie Green.
Proceeds from these hour-long daily poetry and music events will benefit the Old MacDonald Had a Farm in Africa Project, devised by Liz Lochhead and Jim Carruth in association with the global charity, Oxfam.
These high-profile readings take place 11am to 12pm each Wednesday.
The Festival of Spirituality and Peace, now in its twelfth year, features 400 events across 21 venues throughout August. It is the only Edinburgh festival to make charity fundraising a core part of what it does, attracting some 25,000 attendees.
