IT’S all square at Arisaig restaurant on Monday as it hops over from its location within the stunning courtyard of the historic Merchant Square in Glasgow’s Merchant Square to George Square for a cook-off as part of Gourmet Glasgow Dine Around’s free taster sessions in George Square bar as part of Piping Live! 2012.
A taste of the West Coast comes to the heart of Glasgow city centre from 1pm-3pm when Arisaig offers tastings of its own home smoked salmon and a wild venison stew.
Arasaig owner, Naveed Rashid, said: “Pipers come from all over the world to participate in Piping Live! – as do fans of piping music – and it seems perfectly fitting to offer pipers and spectators alike a little taste of the West Coast during their visit to Glasgow.
“Our smoked salmon and venison stew offer tastings of the very best of Scottish cuisine we offer diners from our home in Merchant Square.”
The Gourmet Glasgow Dine Around Restaurant Showcase takes place in George Square from Monday 6th August to Friday 10th August from 11.00am.
The world’s biggest international piping festival, Piping Live! 2012 is expected to attract 30,000 spectators to more than 150 events across seven days from 6th – 12th August 2012.
Located on Candleriggs at the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow’s cultural, fashion and food quarter, Merchant Square offers an eclectic selection of restaurants and cafes.
Once part of the old Glasgow Fruit Market, Merchant Square is imbued with the history of the area’s dominating Victorian architecture, although today this sense of history blends seamlessly with the distinctly cosmopolitan ambiance that pervades the surrounding cobbled streets that bring the outside in.
