BEATTIE Communications has launched what is believed to be the world’s first concierge service – for students studying in Scotland.
Begins a spokesperson: “Only Student Concierge looks after every imaginable need of an international student from meeting them when they arrive in the country to finding accommodation to helping open bank accounts.
“Only also takes care of concierge tasks for domestic students – leaving them free to study and enjoy student life.”
Says Elspeth Brown, director of Only Student Concierge: “We look after the little things from stocking fridges with food to taking washing to the dry cleaners.
“We look after the important things in life such as arranging medical assistance when necessary to providing tutoring services if required.
“Our prime role, however, is to ensure our students are safe, secure and happy while living away from home. That’s why we have a 24/7 emergency hotline in place.”

With 2.5million students in the UK including 150,000 international students, Elspeth Brown expects business to be brisk although she does admit that the service comes with an expensive price tag.
She explained: “Fees start at £12,000 per year and although that’s expensive for many students, some families will find it a small price to pay for the peace of mind of knowing that the student is being looked after and everything taken care of.”
Andy Marriott, director of the Only Student Concierge counselling team, said: “Coming to a strange country can be a daunting prospect for many students while the parents of younger students naturally worry that their offspring will be safe and happy during their time at university or college.
“We’re here to keep an eye on the students, if required, but the majority of our time will be spent ensuring the mundane tasks are taken care of so that they can focus on their studies and enjoy everything that goes with being a student.”
