LEADING accounting and business advisory company, French Duncan, is the latest professional services firm to sign a corporate partnership agreement with BioCity Scotland, the centre for life science businesses in Newhouse, Lanarkshire.

The agreement comes as French Duncan looks to consolidate its expertise in the healthcare and bioscience sector. The company will provide accounting and business advice to BioCity tenant companies and will also take part in events, training and social gatherings.

Ann Somerville, head of Tax at French Duncan, said: “As an indigenous Scottish firm providing clients across Scotland with a comprehensive advisory service, we are delighted, through this corporate partnership agreement, to introduce our financial expertise to BioCity Scotland’s tenant companies.

“With extensive experience helping to grow profitable businesses in the healthcare and bioscience sector, our advisory service is well positioned to supply relevant and practical advice, with particular emphasis on the development of strategic plans and forecasts as well as the raising of capital and grants and claiming R&D tax credits, to BioCity Scotland companies.

“As such, we regard BioCity to be an ideal partner for our skill set and Stephen Hughes (Audit and Business Advisory) and I look forward to leading the FD team that will be working closely with its tenants, current and future.”

Fraser Black, managing director, BioCity Scotland, said: “French Duncan brings world class expertise in accountancy and a deep understanding of the needs of start up and SME companies in the Life Science sector. They are ideal corporate partners for BioCity Scotland’s tenants.”

BioCity Scotland launched in January this year and has already signed seven tenancy contracts, six corporate partner agreements, and hosted several gatherings including the visit of HRH the Princess Royal in February.

French Duncan joins fellow corporate partners, including solicitors McClure Naismith LLP and DWF Biggart Baillie LLP, specialist recruitment consultants Eden Scott of Edinburgh, CK Associates, a national recruitment company in the scientific and clinical sectors, and Harrison Goddard Foote, the patent and trade mark attorneys.
