Media Release: FansFirst Scotland will ‘fight the corner’ for supporters

THE new Scottish football policy and campaign network, FansFirst Scotland, which was launched in the national media recently, exists to ‘fight the corner’ for and with ordinary supporters.

That is the claim made by the group in unveiling its new logo, which features a clever design of a Saltire and corner flag, created by multimedia marketing pioneer, Gary Black.

“Fans are the lifeblood of the game and need to be at the heart of sporting, structural and commercial plans for its future,” explained FansFirst Scotland chair, Alan Harris, who has years of experience in the game and in supporter development.

“Our logo reflects that. Our concern is for the Scottish game as a whole, fighting the corner for ordinary fans, and coming up with practical ideas for the future that reflect what people who are passionate about the game want,” he added.

FansFirst Scotland has been established initially as a policy forum and advocacy organisation giving substance to what fans are saying in the conversation about the development of the game, the group’s steering group says.

It will shortly publish a fresh version of an alternative plan for the future of Scottish football, co-ordinated by researcher Dr Alasdair Galloway.

Later this summer, FansFirst Scotland will promote a ‘Claim of Right’ for a game that lies at the heart of the country’s civic, social and cultural life.
