THE Festival of Spirituality and Peace, which features 400 events and dialogues this year, is exceeding sales expectations so far and is set to grow further as the largest of the ‘small festivals’ on the Edinburgh summer scene.
Says a spokesperson: “The festival emphasises social change, peacemaking, conversation between different viewpoints, multicultural exchange and human values across its extremely varied programme.
“Alternative business guru Charles Handy, national poet Liz Lochhead, comedian and broadcaster Arthur Smith, and hit South African performers Soweto Entsha are among the high profile features. An exotic Persian Tent will provide colour, taste and aroma throughout the festival.”
Says Festival of Spirituality and Peace director, Katherine Newbigging: “So far pre-event sales are significantly up on last year.
“We’re hoping to top £10,000 sales before we open, and of course there will be many more people discovering what we are about before we kick off on 3rd August.”
The Festival Launch Event, entitled ‘Sharable Futures’ takes place on Sunday 5th August from 6pm – 7pm at St John’s Church, Princes Street, at the corner of Lothian Road.
Refreshments will be provided. RSVP to events@festivalofspirituality.org.uk
