THE Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has been selected as the official filming partner of the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival taking place in Edinburgh from August 23 – 25.
Students and staff from the Royal Conservatoire will be on hand to film all of the keynote presentations, workshops, and discussion sessions as well as interviewing key participants. These videos will be uploaded to the official festival YouTube page within hours of taking place.
The Edinburgh International Television Festival is attended by a broad cross-section of the UK and global television industry, as well as executives working in the surrounding media and content industries.
Among the leading names confirmed for this year’s event are Elizabeth Murdoch delivering the prestigious McTaggart lecture, Charlie Brooker who will deliver an Alternative McTaggart, Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat, and 7 Up creator and Hollywood director Michael Apted.
Royal Conservatoire crews will be filming events across all four venues and editing them on location so they can be uploaded within moments to be available online internationally. They will also be providing a permanent record of the event highlights to be accessed on the Festival site.
Adam McIlwaine, head of Production Technology at RCS, says: “This is a great opportunity for our students not only to develop their own skills, but to be at the heart of an event where they can learn from exposure to some of the brightest and most innovative minds in the sector.”
As well as chief executives, managing directors and board level executives the Festival delegate list comprises controllers, commissioners, producers, schedulers, creative directors, commercial directors, talent agents, post production companies, advertising and new media agencies, lawyers, financiers, consultants, trade bodies, government executives and the press.
Louise Benson, MGEITF, director says: “We are very pleased to be working alongside the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, a leading Scottish institution that will provide many of the content creators and media makers of the future.”
