A QUALITY field including top runners from south of the border will ensure plenty of interest in this year’s Glasgow Stakes Class 1 Listed race at Hamilton Park this Thursday afternoon.
The £35,000 feature is the standout of seven races within the track’s Glasgow Stakes Raceday fixture worth £75,000 overall.
It follows the success of the ‘Racenight with Reggie Yates’ fixture on Saturday, where almost 5,000 race-goers enjoyed a post-racing DJ set from the London-based TV and radio presenter.
This Thursday the focus is very much on racing and that 4pm feature with no shortage of contenders. The top-rated horse (100) is Ed De Gas, trained by Newmarket-based ex-jockey Rae Guest with former champion apprentice Chris Catlin booked for the ride. Ed De Gas comes to Hamilton soon after finishing third in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot.
Former international footballer, Mick Channon, will be looking to score with his two charges, New Youmzain and Naseem Alyasmeen, the latter a close second in a recent Group 3 at Newmarket.
The Andrew Balding-trained Goldoni is another contender, with form after finishing sixth in a Class 3 at Royal Ascot and being far from disgraced in the Lingfield Derby Trial in May.
Finally, there may be a patriotic punt or two on Keith Dalgleish’s Act Your Shoe Size, trained just down the road in Carluke and with leading jockey Tom Eaves scheduled to ride.

“We look forward to another terrific day of racing on Thursday afternoon, not only in the Glasgow Stakes race but across what is a strong card overall, including The EBF Class 2 Conditions Stakes which we moved from September to further strengthen this fixture.”
On Saturday night the racecourse welcomed London-based DJ Reggie Yates who had the big crowd dancing the night away after racing, spinning tunes from a special purpose-built ‘DJ Cube’ custom designed for use by the world’s top DJs.
Vivien Kyles added: “’Racenight with Reggie Yates’ was a huge success with his DJ set creating a real party atmosphere and providing the perfect way for race-goers to round off a night of racing.
“There’s a real buzz at Hamilton Park right now with the fixtures coming thick and fast including Glasgow Stakes Raceday this Thursday and then Ladies’ Night, one of the biggest events of our season, just weeks away on the first Saturday in August.”
