THE story of The Majestic Line starts with a real labour of love, a passion for fishing boats and a true affinity with Argyll and the Inner Hebrides.
In 2004, business partners, Andy Thoms and Dr Ken Grant, turned their backs on retirement and made a decision that would change their lives.
After many happy sailing holidays in this idyllic part of the world, where they live and work, they decided to save a beautiful Irish oak-hulled fishing vessel from the scrap heap and turn it into a stylish, mini cruise ship.
No mean feat, but with dedication and hard work, dreams became reality and The Majestic Line was born, named after an episode in Scottish writer Neil Munro’s famous ‘Para Handy’ tales.
In 2007, they converted a second vessel and since then the Glen Massan and Glen Tarsan have toured this stunning area of natural beauty and delighted guests on what many have described as ‘the holiday of a lifetime’.
The main vision of Andy and Ken is to leave the world and its cares behind on a Majestic cruise. Guests escape to a land of breath-taking scenery, rugged mountains, romantic castles and spectacular wildlife, cruising this glorious coastline in unique style and enjoying some of the best hospitality and service that Scotland has to offer.
With room for 11 guests in six en-suite cabins, the vessels are designed to encourage informality and relaxation, while their size allows inshore access to remote corners not available to bigger cruise vessels and often undiscovered by visitors to the area.
It’s also an area that Andy and Ken know like the back of their hands.
There’s no such thing as a typical day on The Majestic Line.
Each cruise allows a real opportunity to become immersed in all that’s best about the Highlands of Scotland – wake up to an authentic home-cooked Scottish breakfast, set sail in the company of porpoises and dolphins, drop by a misty isle to meet the local clan chieftain at his ancestral home, or stop to admire the many ruined castles en route, built in a time when much wilder folk roamed the land.
A visit to a local distillery to try some whisky is a frequent option – each day there are new stops on offer and every night the boats anchor off a stunning location for a delicious freshly prepared dinner.
The Majestic Line gets extremely good feedback from their guests especially on the high standard of hospitality provided by the crew. They take guests to idyllic places, cook amazing meals from locally sourced ingredients and generally serve their every need in a most unobtrusive way.
With a variety of three- and six-night cruises on offer from April to October there is something to suit every appetite including tours of Skye and the Inner Hebrides, Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal, the Island of Mull and the Island of Arran to name but a few.
Private Cruise Charter is very popular where guests can choose their own itinerary, often to celebrate a very special occasion or escape from public life.

Guests are offered free pickup from Glasgow Airport for a one-hour transfer to Holy Loch departures in South Argyll.
