MARKS and Spencer at The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns set the wheels in motion to raise cash for Breakthrough Breast Cancer at last weekend’s Bike 400 Endurance Challenge.
M&S put together 150 teams from across the length and breadth of the UK, each team comprising four cyclists, and challenged them to cycle 400 miles in 24 hours to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
And Jamie McLaughlin, who works in store operations at M&S at The Avenue, rose to the challenge by cycling the required 400 miles in 24 hours.
Together, with help from his M&S store team, who cycled outside the store last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Jamie helped raise a grand total of £2590.
Jill Clark, store manager at M&S in The Avenue said: “This was a fantastic effort by every participant, but particularly from Jamie who managed to complete the endurance cycle by cycling throughout the day and night!”
Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “Congratulations to all at M&S for playing their part to raise funds for such a worthy cause. Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s vital research, campaigning and education work is dedicated to the prevention, treatment and ultimate eradication of breast cancer.”
Nationally, the aim is to raise more than £1 million through the Bike 400 Endurance Challenge.
M&S customers can make donations in-store or online via the Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/teams/BIKE400EnduranceChallenge which continues to take donations until 31st August.
