Scottish Swimming announces Royal Commonwealth Pool as venue for the Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships in December
Major swimming event will be held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool from 14 – 16 December after success of recent Scottish Gas National Open Championships
AFTER the success of the Scottish Gas National Open Championships the swimming action will be back in the Capital at the Royal Commonwealth Pool from 14 – 16 December for the Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships.
Last week’s Scottish Gas National Championships saw Olympian Hannah Miley hauling six gold medals and one silver medal, while Edinburgh University won the Top Team Award with an impressive tally of 876 points, followed by Warrender Baths Club in second place and Garioch ASC in third.
Scottish Swimming, Scotland’s governing body for all aquatic sports, received great feedback from swimmers, coaches, staff and volunteers over the last week, and the Royal Commonwealth Pool has again been chosen to provide the perfect setting for the short course (25m) version of the Scottish Gas National Championships in December.
Scottish Swimming performance director, Ally Whike, said: “It’s an inspiring venue and we have had really good results at the recent Scottish Gas National Championships; therefore, I look forward to some fast racing again providing a great event for swimmers, coaches and spectators alike.”
Ashley Howard, CEO of Scottish Swimming, is looking forward to hosting another event at the recently reopened venue: “I am delighted that Scottish Swimming can confirm the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh as home to our Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships this December.
“Thanks to the hard work of many partners, staff and volunteers, who made our recent event here a first class experience for all, we are looking forward to being back in Scotland’s capital at the end of the year.”
