WHILE Edinburgh celebrates the arrival of summer and swelters under blue sky and sunshine, Durham-based event producer, She’s Gott It!, is already dreaming of a white Christmas!
Says a spokesperson: “The company, which has an Edinburgh base and has delivered the Edinburgh’s Christmas programme for the last five years, beat off stiff competition as part of a retender process for the 2012 Christmas event.”
Plans for this year include a mix of new events and attractions, together with the popular favourites such as the German Market, funfair and the iconic Edinburgh Wheel.
Commenting on the new contract, Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “With the warm spring sunshine making Edinburgh sparkle just now, it seems strange to be even thinking about Christmas, but already plans are progressing to lay on another unmissable programme for the festive season 2012/13.
“Edinburgh’s Christmas events were last year voted best in the UK – the celebrations really light up the city, enticing thousands and thousands of residents and visitors to enjoy the attractions and shop in the city centre.”
Nickie Gott, managing director of She’s Gott It!, said: “While the contract is just getting underway, we already have exciting plans to make this Christmas one to remember.
“Our aim is to make sure that as many people as possible benefit from some festive magic by extending events further across the city.
“We are going to be busy in the coming months putting together a packed programme make sure Edinburgh’s Christmas is bigger and better than ever before.”
