THE capital’s football clubs have put their rivalries aside after the weekend’s cup final by signing a joint charitable partnership with a local home assistance company.
Edinburgh-based First Call will be working to raise funds for the teams’ charities, Big Hearts and Hibernian Community Foundation, through an innovative fundraising arrangement.
It is the latest effort by the firm to cement its strong commitment to the local community and, with every sale of a home emergency policy made through the clubs’ websites, 15 per cent of the monthly fee will go to their respective charities.
John Dickson, national sales director, said: “Business and football allegiances aside, it’s very important for us to help local charitable causes, and the fantastic work the Hearts and Hibs Trusts’ do for community development projects is highly regarded in Edinburgh.
“We are thrilled to pledge our support and we hope the revenues raised can help make a difference to these hugely worthwhile causes.”
Tam Hendry, head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Big Hearts, said: “Big Hearts is the official charity of Heart of Midlothian FC and helps the club to build on its reputation as a positive social force in the community.
“We rely on partnerships with many different local groups, charities, initiatives and corporate partners to drive this forward. Our arrangement with First Call is a great example of such, and we are very pleased that the firm has put their support behind us.”
Kris Von Wald, executive director of Hibernian Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted to have developed this relationship with First Call which will offer something of value to our supporters at the same time as giving something back to the Foundation.”
