HEALTHCARESKILLS Training has secured a prestigious tie-up with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
One of the education programmes offered by company, which is based at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank, has been adopted by the Royal College and was delivered in-house at the organisation’s headquarters in the city’s St Vincent Street over two days last week.
It proved to be a huge success, with 16 candidates from the medical profession and from industry participating. As a result of the interest generated, another two outings of the porgramme are being planned by the college for later this year.
Over the past ten years, the BTEC Diploma in Clinical Education course has been successfully completed by scores of medical and healthcare industry professional at various venues used by Healthcareskills in the UK and continental Europe.
In a departure from the norm, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, instead of Healthcareskills, have been authorized to present the course – which is externally validated and recognised by education authorities across the world.
The BTEC Diploma in Clinical Education, which is accredited by Peasron Edexcel, sets out teaching techniques, standards and concepts in the clinical field. The programme is delivered through formal presentations, structured delegate participation and clinical skills sessions.
A spokesperson for the Royal College said: “We are delighted to add the BTEC Advanced Diploma to the portfolio of education events offered within the College.
“Working in association with Healthcare Skills has enabled us to bring this Edexcel-accredited diploma to the college and strengthen what we offer.
“The proof is in the overwhelming response of delegates who wanted to attend the first outing of the diploma. We now have a waiting list for another two.
“Many thanks to Healthcareskills for their support in making this a success for college.”
Healthcareskills managing director, Diane Irvine, pictured, said: “I think it is great that the College has recognised the value of external validation. This is the first time that this has happened. I congratulate them on this welcome initiative.”
