FROM the first of May, it’ll be ‘passports please’, as visitors to Scottish golf courses can register for membership of a great new club for everyone, focusing on the home of golf.
The Scottish Golf Passport is a pocket-sized super-souvenir and online membership club, complete with a unique golfing insurance policy included.
It not only gives golfers a great memory of their visit to Scotland, but also makes their visit even better value.
It encourages them to get into the local community, sampling all that Scotland has to offer tourists and residents alike.
Passport holders immediately make a major saving.
As soon as they register their membership, they are covered by a golfing insurance policy, offering excellent cover from a major underwriter. “This is a totally new concept,” says founder Alan Webb.
“The insurance is the ultimate added value, and makes the Passport a bargain in itself.”
Golf clubs, hotels, restaurants, and many other businesses will be able to offer The Scottish Golf Passport to guests and clients, either as a corporate gift or retail purchase.
“For the tourism industry, and for business at large, it represents a revenue opportunity, whether you play golf or not,” says Alan Webb.
“The Scottish Golf Passport is a new venture, designed to provide lasting memories for visitors and residents, who make golf part of their visit to Scotland.
“It’s an inexpensive and fun way for golfers engage with local communities and tourism businesses,” added Alan.
“You could present the Passport at any of Scotland’s 500 clubs, and be recommended to businesses in the local area, anything from taxi hire to hotels.
“Businesses can engage as easily as simply stamping the Passport on request, right up to offering the Passport for sale or as a corporate gift. It really is that simple.”
Don’t worry though, nobody need carry any extra documentation, nor will they be subject to stringent new customs checks.
You won’t even be asked if you packed your golf bag yourself. Just a great souvenir, and a great membership, and that’s insured too.

The launch of The Scottish Golf Passport will be in the recently opened Stables Pavilion at Musselburgh Links – The Old Golf Course, Balcarres Road, Musselburgh EH21 7SR, on Tuesday, 1 May, at 1015.
Traditional tea, scones and bacon rolls will be served in the morning. Then there’s an opportunity for a round on the nine-hole course, the oldest in the world, and lunch will be served from 1230.
Non-playing guests can enjoy the leisurely hospitality of the Stables Pavilion during the morning, in the company of Alan Webb.
