THE Mussel Inn Gallery in Glasgow is this month exhibiting the debut collection from local artist, Susan Christie, whose Discovery collection features a series of delicate watercolours.
Matt Johansson, at The Mussel Inn Gallery, said: “This exhibition features a series of striking watercolours and we would urge art-lovers to visit The Gallery to discover a new artistic talent and lose themselves in Susan’s bold and immersive work.”
Commenting on her artistic inspiration, Christie said: “Since I was a child, I have always been inspired by the watercolour painting effect; its light and dark, shadows and reflections, tones and shades create wonderful moods and movement.
“So just a few years ago, I decided to try this long-loved medium, having never picked up a paintbrush before.
“From the moment I did, I felt the excitement – like plunging into a sea of colour, discovering the pure pleasure of seeing and working with beautiful colour combinations.
“The mix of watercolour’s delicacy and transparency captures, for me, the fragile beauty of butterflies’ wings, with the sense that if you blink you may miss something exquisite and unique.”
Susan Christie’s Discovery collection will be on show throughout March. Located at 157 Hope Street in Glasgow, the award-winning Mussel Inn is renowned for its passion for art and its offering of delicious locally sourced fresh seafood.
