A LEADING North east butcher has been appointed Scottish chair of the prestigious Q Guild as it prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
John Davidson, of UK Butcher’s Shop of the Year, Davidsons Specialist Butchers, was recently appointed to the role following the retirement of Edinburgh butcher Sandy Crombie who held the post for 16 years.
Davidsons Specialist Butchers operate award-winning, family run outlets in Inverurie and at Dobbies, Aberdeen and recently launched an online shop bringing their products to customers the length and breadth of the UK.
Commenting on his Q Guild appointment, John Davidson said: “It is an honour to take over this position from one of the most respected butchers in the country.
“I have no doubt that the wealth of expertise and knowledge Sandy is more than happy to share with others have contributed immensely to shaping the Q Guild into the established guild of professionals it is today.
“I hope that I can play a part in the organisation’s future, representing the finest quality independent meat retailers in Britain.”
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Q Guild, its member butchers – including Davidsons Specialist Butchers – will be selling a special champagne-based pork sausage between March 5th and 17th with a percentage of all sales of the product to be donated to the NSPCC and ChildLine Scotland.
