ABERDEEN-based experts, Ecosse Subsea Systems, are preparing to showcase their innovative subsea technology at Europe’s largest conference and exhibition for the industry.

During the Subsea 2012 event at Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre (AECC) on February 8th and 9th, Mike Wilson and his team will exhibit the wholly-owned subsea trenching system SCAR which is designed to operate from vessels of opportunity.

Designed in close consultation with the subsea industry, SCAR offers low mobilisation costs and presents a reliable and cost-effective alternative to conventional towed ploughs and trenchers.

In addition, Wilson will present a conference paper entitled, ‘GLS: New Technology Rising to the Challenge of Subsea Lifting’, looking at this patented enabling technology for installing structures in subsea environments from Ecosse Subsea Systems and partners Aubin.

Both companies will exhibit at the event and can be found on stand A42.

The system offers a precise, safe and transferable buoyant force independent of depth which can move and recover structures of 20kg to 2,000t from depths of up to 150m.

It offers a cheaper, simpler and safer option than cranes in the areas of wind turbine installation, tidal stream machine installation, manifold installation, salvage and decommissioning.

Ecosse Subsea Systems will also host a table at the 2012 Subsea Business Awards awards dinner where partner, Marin Group, hopes to be named subsea company of the year.

Last year, the two organisations formed an alliance to offer a one-stop excavation and trenching service to the oil, gas and renewables industries worldwide.

Commenting on the forthcoming Subsea 2012 event, Ecosse Subsea Systems founder and managing director, Mike Wilson, said: “The innovative technology we bring to the market is very much in line with the ethos of this year’s event – ‘reaching further, going deeper’ – so we are delighted to be bringing a selection of our products to the international marketplace that Subsea 2012 will bring to the AECC.”
