SCOTCH whisky producer, Chivas Brothers, is again celebrating after receiving the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commendation Award from Healthy Working Lives (HWL).
For the award Chivas Brothers demonstrated the ways in which it supports employees suffering from mental health or stress issues – both for those in the workplace and those returning to work – and trains managers to recognise these conditions.
Regular wellbeing surveys are conducted at Chivas Brothers, and additional information is provided for employees who care for someone with a mental health condition.
General mental health and stress awareness training is available to all employees, and information stands and massage treatments were provided.
The HWL award scheme is administered by the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives, part of the NHS, and celebrates success in creating healthy and safe workplaces.
Last year Chivas Brothers celebrated receiving the gold HWL award just eight months after achieving the silver. In fact, the company moved through the three award stages – from bronze to gold – in just 18 months.
Gordon Buist, technical director for Chivas Brothers, said: “This latest award is further proof that we are at the forefront of employee wellbeing.
“We understand the importance of awareness when it comes to mental health and stress, and have taken steps to implement new training schemes as well as really engaging with our employees on these issues.”
