During the 5th of December, Experian Hitwise were confident that pre-Christmas online shopping activity was set to reach 85 million visits for retail websites in the UK; the figures monitored turned out to be 84.6 million visits. What’s more, Experian Hitwise also predicts there will be 2.1 billions visits to retail websites throughout December by the UK population alone. This equates to an average of 8 hours and 45 minutes per person throughout December.

With Christmas of 2011 set to be a record breaker for online retailers and for retail in general, Experian Hitwise also believe that boxing day will offer another opportunity for retailers to expect more online traffic, both from users hoping to identify the stores offering the best offers, and to take advantage of further discounted products.
