WHEN Google Maps was first introduced to mobile devices, it was hailed as not only a great navigation tool but also a time-saving application that would be used on a daily basis by millions of smartphone users. The most recent improvement will now enable android 6.0 users to view interior maps of airports, retail stores and malls in the US and Japan.
With such participants as Macy’s, Bloomingdales and IKEA, there’s a lot to be exited about, says QueryClick.
A spokesperson from the UK SEO company, QueryClick, has commented:
“With Google Maps incorporating such well known and loved businesses into their system it’s easy to see users making much more use out of Google maps, than ever before. We all know how complicated it can be to get around IKEA here in the UK so the benefits are obvious.
“With no more hunting for location maps in malls or searching for the nearest toilet. We can’t wait for its roll-out for android users here in the UK.”
Not only will it display full maps of interior shopping malls and many other large buildings but it will also display the floor levels. Google have confirmed that at the time of launch there will be ‘several hundred million square feet of coverage’ but there’s still a long way to go before delivering the coverage that Google desires.
With new indoor maps set to be introduced in the near future, it will be sure to help increase the popularity of Google Maps for all mobile users, worldwide.
