A GLASGOW businessperson – whose expertise, mentoring and inspiration has helped young entrepreneurs throughout Glasgow fulfil their self-employment ambitions – is one of four finalists shortlisted for 2011 Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) ‘Volunteer of the Year Award.’
Jeff Horner, who works for The Go Group as an Innovation Support Executive, has been nominated for his commitment towards helping young entrepreneurs sustain their business and offering them crucial advice during the first few years in operation.
The Volunteer of the Year will be announced at the ‘PSYBT Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ awards ceremony in Glasgow’s City Chambers on Tuesday 15h November 2011.
Mr Horner started volunteering for the Glasgow PSYBT team in 2005 as an aftercare advisor and currently holds four additional volunteer roles within the organisation. He has been actively involved in getting many successful PSYBT businesses up and running, giving considerable time, experience and energy to help them hone their business skills.
Sarah Scace, regional manager for PSYBT in Glasgow, said: “Mr Horner has shown a huge commitment to the PSYBT and the work which we do in Glasgow, and is an exceptional volunteer role model and dedicated ambassador for our organisation.”
The other three ‘Volunteer of the Year Award’ finalists are John McDougall from Paisley, Lorna Watson from the Scottish Borders and Bill McWilliams from Edinburgh.
