GLASGOW-based public relations consultancy, Liquorice Media, has welcomed the third quarter Bellwether Report from the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, showing that marketing budgets have been revised upwards, ending a three-quarter period of decline.
Explains a spokesperson: “The ‘all other’ category, which includes PR, recorded growth for the first time in 16 quarters, taking it to +1.5 per cent.
“The rise in budgets is thought to be a result of companies increasing expenditure to promote new products and maintain market share amid competitive pressure. This is the first time since Q2 2007 that budgets for all sectors have been revised up.”
Susan Christie, co-founder and director of Liquorice Media, said: “The welcome rise in marketing budgets revealed in this report suggests that businesses are learning the lesson that those that invest in marketing throughout challenging economic times invariably reap the benefits by being better positioned than their competitors when market conditions improve.
“Bill Gates could not have put it better when he said that ‘If I was down to my last dollar, I’d spend it on public relations.’”
Liquorice Media places media stories on behalf of its clients within local, national and international media. The copy it produces and places on a daily basis for its expanding client base includes: press releases, by-lined articles, speech writing, web copy, newsletters, brochures and copywriting.
