TRATTORIA Fanelli’s, in Merchant Square, in the heart of Glasgow’s historic Merchant City, has introduced new a la carte and lunch menus.
Priding itself on serving a classic Italian style menu, Fanelli’s rustic selection is enhanced by the use of locally sourced, seasonal produce which is reflected in its ever-changing specials board. The restaurant uses simple fresh ingredients, prepared and cooked with true Italian passion.
The new a la carte menu offers a selection of antipasti, including: garlic pizza bread with mozzarella; bruschetta and mussels marinara whilst its pasta selection includes: penne arribiata; lasagne al forno and spaghetti with tiger prawns.
Pizza dishes include Florentina (spinach and baked egg), goats cheese and mixed seafood whilst meat dishes include Italian sausage casserole and sirloin steak.
Fanelli’s fish selection offers trout, salmon and sea bass, whilst its risottos are radish and beetroot, chicken and wild mushroom and Arbroath Smokies. Diners can also choose between a goats cheese and Pollo Caprese salad.
The mouth-watering selection of desserts includes: cheesecake; tiramisu; vanilla pannacotta; chocolate pot and mixed ice cream.
In addition to its full menu, Fanelli’s lunch menu, available from 12 noon till 4pm daily, offers a selection of bruschetta including: roasted Mediterranean vegetables with Buffalo mozzarella; Italian sausage stew; sardines, oven baked in tomato sauce and pan-fried mushrooms in white wine and tarragon cream.
Individual platters available at lunchtime include: selezione di salumi (a selection of cured meats, chicken liver pate with red onion chutney); frutti de mare (sardines, calamari, mussels and salmon) and correla vegetali (grilled peppers, aubergines, courgettes, red onion and olives).
Fanelli’s offers a casual dining experience, where customers can relax with family and friends. The restaurant has a large terrace area overlooking the activities of Merchant Square, the perfect spot for some people watching, as well as a more secluded booth seating area. Large groups can take full advantage of the balcony area for private bookings, sit down meals, buffets or drinks receptions, using their own private bar.
Located on Candleriggs at the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow’s cultural, fashion and food quarter, Merchant Square offers an eclectic selection of restaurants and cafes. Once part of the old Glasgow Fruit Market, Merchant Square is imbued with the history of the area’s dominating Victorian architecture, although today this sense of history blends seamlessly with the distinctly cosmopolitan ambiance that pervades the surrounding cobbled streets that bring the outside in.
