HIGH Valleyfield Sports and Recreation Club is celebrating the renovation of its games area, thanks to a £10,000 grant from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
The Coalfield Regeneration Trust’s grant helped fund the latest round of maintenance work at the Club, including the renewal of aging central heating pipes which threatened to leave the 600 members out in the cold this winter.
There was a double celebration when the Trust handed over its cheque and apprentices from West Fife Enterprise presented members with a working model of a pithead.
Nicky Wilson, Scottish Trustee of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, said: “We are delighted to help High Valleyfield’s committee maintain their property in tip top condition.
“The Sports and Recreation club is the social hub of the village, and it meets our commitment to help sustain healthier communities by providing facilities for young people.
“The Trust also supports West Fife Enterprise from time to time, and it was good to see the craftsmanship of the apprentices who made the pit head model for the club.”
Club chair, Johnston Little, said: “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust for supporting our renovation programme.
“Thanks to their support we are providing our members and everyone who uses the Club with first class facilities.
“We are also grateful to the West Fife Enterprise apprentices – their model will be a real talking point amongst the members.”
