ONE of Edinburgh’s leading Land Rover dealerships, Pentland Land Rover – part of the John Clark Motor Group – was showing off two pride and joys yesterday, a brand new Range Rover Evoque and Colima, its sponsored ‘baby elephant’.
Pentland’s sponsorship is part of the capital’s ‘Jungle City’, a city-wide charity-driven art exhibition.
Colima, along with the event’s other uniquely-decorated animals, is being auctioned off on ebay to raise money for lead charity, Elephant Family, along with partner charities: Care For The Wild; Orangutan Foundation; Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh; Sumatran Orangutan Society; TRAFFIC and WWF Scotland.
As well as the online bidding, there will also be a prestigious live auction, hosted by renowned campaigner Midge Ure, at the National Museums of Scotland this evening (Thursday 29 September).
Guests will bid on an exclusive selection of Jungle City animals as well as other specialist items including a Zara Martin designed couture blanket, made with luxurious Range Rover leather, courtesy of Pentland Land Rover.
Commenting on the dealership’s sponsorship, Stuart Miller, dealer principal at Pentland Land Rover, said: “It’s brilliant being involved in such an extraordinary project and it was great to finally meet our sponsored elephant Colima.
“The sculpture and couture blanket are really striking pieces and we hope they will help raise a significant amount of money for a good cause.”
The online auctions end on Sunday 2 October at 7pm.
