THEY say a picture is worth a thousand words, so former Daily Record journalist, Laura Coventry, has put down her pen and paper and picked up a camera.
And now viewers can judge for themselves the truth of the saying by visiting Laura’s debut photography exhibition at The Gallery @ Mussel Inn in Glasgow.
Rather than telling stories through the pages of a national newspaper, the keen photographer now hopes to inspire and entertain with her creative and quirky collections, which include ‘Blue Glasgow’ and ‘The Girl in the Red Coat’.
Growing up, Laura was rarely seen without a camera in her hand, but it wasn’t until studying for a media degree that her passion was realised.
Then, faced with the prospect of redundancy in 2009, Glasgow-born Laura launched Waverley Photography as a ‘back-up plan’.
Laura took redundancy this summer to concentrate on her photography business.
Now, she hopes visitors to her exhibition – which runs throughout October and November – will enjoy viewing her images as much as she enjoyed taking them.
The exhibition launch takes place on 6 October from 6 to 8pm in the Gallery at Mussel Inn.
Canapés and wine will be served – and there is a 25 per cent discount when dining in the restaurant that evening.
Located at 157 Hope Street in Glasgow, the award-winning Mussel Inn is renowned for its passion for art and its offering of delicious locally sourced fresh seafood.
