DESIGN Collective Scotland will showcase its Spring/Summer 2012 collections at this week’s London Fashion Week at Somerset House and host a special evening reception at 7.30pm on Tuesday 20th September at Sanctum Soho Hotel in the heart of London’s West End.
Comprising four of the latest generation of finest cutting-edge fashion talent to emerge from Scotland in recent years, Design Collective Scotland is a new vehicle for the promotion of contemporary Scottish fashion design and a platform for nurturing fashion creatives in Scotland.
The four founding Design Collective Scotland designers are: Iona Crawford, Di Gilpin, Emily Lamb and Marc Ross.
Emily Lamb, of Design Collective Scotland, said: “The response to the launch of the Collective last week in Glasgow was fantastic and we’re now delighted to be able to showcase our Spring/Summer 2012 collections at London Fashion Week – the most important week of our professional lives to date.
“None of us could have achieved this showcase alone – so the formation of Design Collective Scotland is already paying dividends and we’re all greatly looking forward to launching our distinctive contemporary collections via the Collective at LFW.”
Iona Crawford’s spring/summer 2012 collection incorporates her unique painterly prints with a selection of luxurious cloths – notably, organic merino jersey from the world’s finest merino flocks in Auckland New Zealand – whilst Di Gilpin debuts her own-label collection which draws inspiration from traditional hand knit techniques to create a series of signature pieces which wrap and hold the body.
Shoe designer Emily Lamb’s spring/summer 2012 collection uses a variety of sumptuous materials from black silk to soft navy nappa to powder pink kid suede. With transparent PVC, bold pinks and deep burnt orange and a combination of floral and structural shapes, the collection encapsulates every possible mood of a summer romance, while Marc Ross’s collection features digital prints, laser cutting and a kaleidoscope of summer colours, including burnt orange, yellow, gold and white in his signature leather.
