PAX, a sleek and elegant whippet is flying the flag for Bonhams in a stunning Victorian amethyst rivière necklace to announce their forthcoming Jewellery and Silver Sale.
The impressive necklace and cross design pendant, featured on Pax, is part of a private collection of 19th century jewellery with links to the Vansittart family of The East India Company fame.
The stunning pendant belonged to Florence Mary Vansittart of The Honourable East India Company. The same collection also includes the fob watch of the Countess of Buckinghamshire, Maria Isabella Hobart Hampden.
The family were obviously dog lovers as one of the pieces; a Victorian gold bracelet contains a photographic portrait of a much loved family pet.
Speaking about much loved animals, Pax is the proud whippet of Bonhams managing director, Miranda Grant, who along with her team, were delighted to pamper him for a photo shoot.
Similar to the speed of a whippet, the impressive items will go under the hammer, where bidding will be fast and furious.
The pieces include diamond encrusted watches, George III and Victorian silver tableware and tea services, finest jewellery from sapphire and diamond cluster rings to an Edwardian aquamarine pendant and Victorian diamond star and Art Nouveau brooch.
The stunning pieces are encrusted with the finest jewels and most intricate of designs.
Miranda Grant, managing director of Bonhams, said: “Pax has become the Bonhams loveable mascot.
“He has mirrored the touch of elegance and glamour that will feature in the Bonhams Jewellery and Silver Sale and has certainly enjoyed the attention. There will be over 500 exquisite items for auction and the collections really do take your breath away.”
The Bonhams Jewellery and Silver Sale 2011 takes place at 11am on Thursday 8 September at Bonhams Edinburgh, 22 Queen Street.
