The Paper Doll Militia Present their Edinburgh Fringe Debut
THIS TWISTED TALE
Ben Harrison (Grid Iron) directs this fantastical aerial fairy tale! With a haunting and original score by David Paul Jones.
With an intoxicating blend of whimsy and danger, The Paper Doll Militia brings to the Fringe their newest aerial theatre piece, This Twisted Tale, co-directed by Ben Harrison.
A dark comedy with emotional relevance, this story details the adventures of Chloe, a misfit little girl, and Luce, an unpredictable incarnation of the devil with an acerbic wit.
Delivering their lines as they hang, twist, and turn from invented aerial apparatus, The Paper Doll Militia tell a story that catches the eye and strikes the soul.
As Luce draws Chloe deeper into her eccentric world where anything is possible, we observe a complex interplay of light and dark, and learn about the vital importance of dreaming and play. Throughout, we wonder whether it’s the destructive forces in our lives that yield the most light and growth.
This Twisted Tale seamlessly fuses aerial arts and acrobatics, vintage style shadow puppetry and animation, all set to the throbbing, haunting music of composer, David Paul Jones. It’s an unforgettable performance of fantastical proportions.
After a successful US tour, The Paper Doll Militia is traveling 6,000 miles for their Fringe debut.
Get ready for a high-octane aerial performance that literally smashes the place up.
