A fUNDRAISING ball was held at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom at the weekend in aid of the RNLI.
Around 250 guests attended the Aberdeen Lifeboat Ball, raising more than £24,000 for the charity.
The event, which was held on Friday, April 20, was sponsored BG Group and law firm, McGrigor LLP.
Those who attended the Ball enjoyed a champagne reception, a stunning three course meal and an evening of entertainment including a charity auction and raffle.
The event has played a crucial part in helping to raise some of the £342,000 needed annually to run the Aberdeen Lifeboats and station.
Kirsten Hastie, chair of the Lifeboat Ball committee, is delighted that the event was such a success and is already looking towards next year’s ball.
She said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised such a fantastic sum and it was great to see everyone having such a good time.
“This event allows us to not only raise vital funds but also awareness of the RNLI.
“I would like to thank everyone who sponsored this year’s Ball as without their support, it wouldn’t be possible to put on a night like this.
“Since 2000, the Aberdeen lifeboats and their volunteer crews have responded to more than 245 callouts, saving more than 41 lives.
“Raising funds through different activities means that we can ensure the station and staff have the most sophisticated and up to date technology to allow them to respond faster and better to calls for assistance.
