OVER 200 school teachers, learning assistants, freelance tutors and industry experts will come together this Wednesday 15 February at Eden Court Theatre to attend the one-day Inspiring Creativity Conference.
This unique event will inspire teachers, learning assistants and youth workers to use different art forms to enhance how they deliver lessons in all subjects, including core subjects such as English.
Over 20 different workshops and seminars will be delivered over the course of the day, including a workshop in stop frame animation where participants will learn how to use day-to-day objects, paintings and transferable computer skills to create moving image artworks.
Another of the workshops on offer will explore new ideas for using museum objects across the curriculum linking the arts and social studies together.
The seminars and workshops are designed to assist those working with young people to try out new ideas and will include Dance, Scriptwriting, Improvisation, Wood Engraving and Story-Telling.
They will be led by Eden Court’s CREATIVE team, local arts companies and some of Scotland’s top national companies including the National Theatre of Scotland and Scottish Ballet.
Cllr Drew Millar, chair of High Life Highland, said: “The arts are a powerful learning tool which can be deployed across the curriculum for learning at all levels and ages.
|We are delighted to be working with some fantastic artists and facilitators to showcase high quality training in creative learning across the Highlands and are grateful for the generous support from Education Scotland and the Creative Scotland National Lottery Fund which has made this event possible.”
Eden Court’s CREATIVE manager, Kati Kozikowska, said: “This is a hugely exciting event to be involved in because it’s an opportunity to inspire those who inspire our children. Our CREATIVE team will be offering up a new range of ideas, skills and techniques that can be used, not just in the delivery of expressive arts, but within the framework of the entire Curriculum for Excellence.
“It’s also great for us to be able to showcase the skills, knowledge and imaginative approach of our CREATIVE team, who deliver arts education in communities all over the Highlands.”
This in-depth event, delivered in partnership by Eden Court’s CREATIVE team and HighLife Highland, who together run the Highland Creative Learning Network (HCLN), will focus on how to enable teachers to develop an innovative approach to learning by using a variety of expressive arts as a way of enhancing the delivery of the current curriculum.
