SCOTSCARE, the charity for Scots in London, has announced a poetry competition entitled, ‘A Scot in London’, to celebrate their 400th year of supporting Scots in London living in poverty.
The competition is open to the general public, as well as ScotsCare clients and supporters, and will be judged by a select panel including Costa Book Awards winner, A.L Kennedy.
A.L Kennedy said: “’I am delighted to be involved with ScotsCare and this competition. As a Scot who has sometimes lived in London, I know we all have different relationships with the city and I look forward to discovering how contributors translate their experiences into poetry.”
The closing date for entries is the 31st of August.
The winner will be announced on St Andrew’s Day (30th November) and will win a £1,000 top prize. The top five entries will also go on permanent display in the ScotsCare offices.
The competition is open to all styles of poetry with the only guideline that it is based on the theme ‘A Scot in London’. The competition is available through ScotsCare’s website, www.scotscare.com.
