STEVENSON College Edinburgh is now accepting applications for its HN Allied Health: Physiotherapy Support course which is aimed at enhancing the careers of health professionals.
Stevenson is the only college in Scotland currently offering this qualification which begins on 5th March 2011. And, with places limited to just 20, early application is recommended.
The nationally recognised qualification aims to develop on the skills of employees working as Physiotherapy Support Workers and can also be used as a stepping stone to a degree level course in physiotherapy.
Stevenson College Edinburgh is looking to attract those who are currently employed as a support worker in the physiotherapy department of a hospital or in private practice with at least two years’ experience.
Running over two years, the distance learning course offers the flexibility of being able to gain the qualification whilst working in your current role. The course will have at least three residential weeks per year at the college.
The first two-year course was completed by students at Stevenson in June 2011 and everyone who completed the course had a 100 per cent pass rate.

- To apply for this course, you need to be working in a Physiotherapy Support Worker role, either for the NHS or other relevant organisation and have a minimum of two year’s experience working in the field.
- The HN Allied Health Professions: Physiotherapy Support is part of a government initiative which is supported by NHS Education for Scotland (NES). NHS employees can apply for funding from the NES Fellowship Fund to cover the cost of the course. Physiotherapy support workers not employed by the NHS can still apply, but will have to fund the course themselves or through an employer.
