SPIDER Online’s redesign of www.goldencharter.co.uk took the eCommerce Award at last night’s heraldscotland.com Digital Business Awards 2011 in partnership with Digital Enterprise Glasgow.
The ceremony took place at Oran Mor, Glasgow and saw Spider Online collect the top award after impressing the judges with their design, functionality, checkout process, user experience and after sales service.
Says a spokesperson: “The redesign transformed Golden Charter’s website from an online brochure into a complete funeral planning facility delivering vastly improved commercial performance in sales and enquiries.
“In the first three months from launch, traffic rose 600 per cent while sales increased by 11 times and enquiries through the site climbed 60 per cent.
“The number of brochures sent out rose 250 per cent in the first ten months of 2010 while the cost per sale fell from £514 to £183.
“The new website focuses on the strapline, ‘Giving you peace of mind about the future’, and enables customers to compare prices while delivering advice on all aspects of planning a funeral including a directory of 2,700 independent funeral directors.”
John Campbell, MD, Spider Online, said: “We are delighted to win this award and have always worked hard to provide our clients with digital solutions that are imaginative, efficient and effective; marrying high quality digital design with our innovative technical approach. Customers clearly like the new Golden Charter website and the results speak for themselves.”
Gordon Swan, Golden Charter’s marketing and communications manager, said: “Spider Online created a persuasive, engaging site which has delivered business results far in excess of any we had ever experienced. We are delighted to win this award which is recognition of the success of our new approach.”
