AN Aberdeen-based cancer support charity has received a welcome boost thanks to backing of a local oilfield services company.
Says a spokesperson: “Dominion Gas has stepped in to help CLAN Cancer Support furnish its new purpose-designed support centre which is currently under construction on Westburn Road, Aberdeen.
“As the chosen charity of Dominion Gas employees, the company has donated £2,500 towards furnishing three separate areas within the CLAN building.
“The generous donation will furnish two counselling rooms within the centre as well as part funding a projector and screen for an activity room – which will be used for social evenings, talks and film nights for clients and residents of the centre’s Haven accommodation facility.”
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, was delighted to receive the donation.
She said: “During the planning and construction of our new headquarters the support we have received from the local business community really has been amazing.
“Dominion Gas’ donation and continued support means a great deal to us and to receive the funds to complete the three areas means that vital funds can be used elsewhere within the building.
“Every single donation, no matter how big or small, helps to bring us a step closer to our dream headquarters.”

“It’s shocking to learn that more and more people continue to be affected by cancer and we are pleased to learn our donation will be put to such good use in CLAN’s new headquarters”.
CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer.
Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
