Media Release: Jamie’s Italian 150ft pop-up restaurant for ENABLE Scotland

ON Sunday 28 August, a pop-up version of Jamie Oliver’s Glasgow restaurant will appear 150feet in the air on top of the Titan Crane, which stands on the banks of The River Clyde.

Jamie’s Italian will serve signature dishes from their menu for 16 lucky guests on the top of the crane which will be decked out as a picture perfect garden complete with fake grass and fairy lights.

Says a spokesperson: “Never done before, this totally unique, alfresco dining experience overlooking Glasgow’s skyline is part of a fundraising initiative by learning disability charity, ENABLE Scotland.”

Jon Wood, head chef for Jamie’s Italian, said: “At Jamie’s Italian, we like to push the boundaries; however, this has definitely got to be one of the most unusual places we have ever prepared and served food.”

Jill MacRae, fundraising manager for ENABLE Scotland, said: “I wanted to offer a really special prize for the teams taking part in our August abseil and dinner on top of the crane is a little bit crazy but somehow appropriate.

“I’m not sure how I can top this for our Night Abseil in October, though!”

Notes to Editors

ENABLEScotland is one of the country’s leading charities for children and adults who have learning disabilities.

We are a member-led organisation. Local ENABLE branches are made up of volunteers, mostly people with learning disabilities and their families and carers

Learning disability affects around one in 50 people. The most well-known form is Down’s Syndrome, although there are many others. There is no cure for learning disability

ENABLE Scotland was formed in 1954 by a group of families whose lives were affected by learning disability.

We campaign for people who have learning disabilities to live full and independent lives.

We provide services to allow people to live work and take part in their communities.
