THEY’RE the absolute must-have for all Scottish festivals – your wellies.
And music lovers heading for the Tartan Heart 2011 at Belladrum in Inverness-shire this weekend (Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 August) will have the chance to take part in a bit of festival fashion fun and give their boring boots a bit of style, thanks to the British Red Cross.
For a small donation, visitors to the on-site Red Cross boutique can have their wellies sprayed silver and adorned with diamantes and other fun decorations.
And for those regretting their choice of less appropriate festival footwear, there will be a selection of pre-sprayed wellies for sale.
The boutique will also be offering a wide range of the latest fashions and accessories for women, men and children – mainly brand new and donated by a leading High Street retailer.
Ann-Marie Manson, Red Cross retail field manager for Northern Scotland, said: “The festival at Belladrum is all about family fun and the Red Cross is delighted to be part of it.
“Festival-goers in Scotland don’t expect great weather so we thought we’d add a little sunshine to the weekend by turning people’s wellies into fashion statements.
“We are also taking along a selection of products hand crafted by our volunteers from recycled materials – all with a Scottish or tartan theme.
“Our boutique will be an added attraction, offering the latest festival chic at very competitive prices. Our ‘Encore’ range of goods is made up of new, unused items, donated by a leading retailer.
“We are offering something that’s fun but with a serious purpose – to raise funds for the Red Cross. Every penny we raise at Belladrum will make a difference, helping to save lives and change lives at home and abroad.”
The boutique will also stock a host of festival essentials such as ponchos, glow sticks, micro-kites, fluorescent torches – and tent air fresheners.

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
