OVER 160,000 young people all over Scotland will receive their exam results via email, text or by post on 4 August 2011.
For those who don’t get the results they had been hoping for, help is at hand in the form of a free call to the Skills Development Scotland exam results helpline on 0808 100 8000.
The helpline will open at 8am on 4 August to offer information, advice and support to young people receiving their SQA qualifications, including Highers and Standard grades, and their parents or carers.
Skills Development Scotland’s chief executive, Damien Yeates, said: “Our helpline will be live from early morning to offer young people and their parents all the advice they need as soon as their results are received.”
He added: “Our advice is – as always – not to panic. If people don’t get the results they were anticipating they should contact the helpline and speak to our advisers. They can give them all the information, advice and assistance they need.”
And he continued: “We find that while this can be a difficult time for some students, it can also be difficult for their mothers, fathers or carers.
“Parents often make the call on behalf of their sons and daughters who may be too upset to call the helpline themselves.
“Making the call is what is important, because it is the vital first step in finding out what options are available.”
Advisers will be on hand to give the latest information on UCAS course vacancies at colleges and universities across the UK, Confirmation and Clearing, advice about employment, training opportunities and exam re-sits.
The Exam Results Helpline will run from 8am until 8pm on 4 and 5 August, from 9am until 5pm until 26 August and from 9am until noon on 27 August.
