ENTERPRISING Scottish strawberry growers, Berry Scrumptious, are backing Andy Murray all the way this week.
Offering a generous five per cent off their strawberries dipped in chocolate every time Andy Murray wins a match, the total discount to date (Thursday 30th June) is up to 25 per cent off.
Says a spokesperson: “If and when our Scottish tennis star wins the championship, Berry Scrumptious will honour their offer to a grand total of 50 per cent up until midnight on Sunday.
“Strawberries are synonymous with Wimbledon and it is no surprise therefore that the ever resourceful Berry Scrumptious have served up their Belgian chocolate-covered strawberries at centre court for several years.
“This year, they thought they would join the Murray mania from their family farm in Aberdeenshire by offering all Andy’s supporters a winning chance too.”
Said Claire Rennie, of Berry Scrumptious: “We are keen Wimbledon fans but it is all the more fantastic to be watching a fellow Scot playing on centre court. We wanted to do something to show our support to Andy Murray so we thought we would match his winnings with a discount on our best-selling Wimbledon product.
“Murray’s dreams of winning a first Grand Slam title are closer than ever following a superb performance against Lopez on Wednesday. Scottish tennis hero, Andy Murray, is set to play world No. 1 seed, Nadal, in the semi-final tomorrow with a 50-50 chance of playing French player, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, or No 2, Novack Djokovic on Sunday.”
Berry Scrumptious specialises in producing fresh chocolate-covered strawberries using soft fruit grown on the family farm in Rosehearty, near Fraserburgh.
These are delivered throughout the UK as luxury gifts or served at weddings and events including the BAFTA Film Awards and Wimbledon.
